I realized today that 98 contact were not syncing to my Blackberry Tour from my MacBook Pro running Mac OS 10.6.1 Snow Leopard. Neither Missing Sync for Blackberry nor Blackberry Desktop Manager (newly released for Macs) would sync my contacts properly. I even wiped my Blackberry, and it didn’t solve the problem.

The Missing Sync log report:

Device error: Error adding record to device/nCould not add a contact (ID: 00000011, SarahKemble) to the device.
Device error: Error adding record to device/nCould not add a contact (ID: 00000025, AdamTowFoundationSystems) to the device.
Device error: Error adding record to device/nCould not add a contact (ID: 00000031, ErinAndersonVitus) to the device.

… and so on, for a total of 98 problematic contacts.

Finally, I discovered that if I duplicated offending entries in Address Book (copy/paste, then delete old contact), they would sync properly. It’s too bad I didn’t discover this until after wiping my Blackberry, because now I have to reinstall all of the apps I use.

In addition to the default apps included in a Verizon Blackberry Tour, I install the following apps (here with OTA links for convenience):

I of course emailed this to myself so I could just click on each link on my Blackberry itself, but Verizon BIS seems to have gone down (the Verizon website forwards to t-mobile’s BIS url and says “Service temporarily unavailable due to maintenance. Please try again later.”). When it rains…

UPDATE: I just tried to upgrade my firmware via Blackberry Desktop Manager for Windows, and it gave me a fatal error! Sweet!
